Since its introduction in 1996, ORYX has become the flagship of the Norma range. Around the world, it has been praised for its performance.
So what is it that makes ORYX so unique? Well, a combination of rapid expansion for killing shots, and high residual weight and depth action for the more demanding shots. ORYX is a bonded bullet, which means that the jacket and core are soldered together. The bullet opens quickly, but the soldering prevents separation of the jacket and core, leading to residual weights of over 90%.
For ORYX, Norma uses a highly advanced melting process that provides superior adhesion between the jacket and core. For a perfectly controlled expansion, even at low speeds or during soft part hits, the front mantle wall must be thinned and properly sized. The tip of the ORYX has internal splitting zones and, with a special technique, the outermost part of the tip is left unbonded.
It is these details that set ORYX apart from other bonded bullets and allow it to be used in a wide range of hunting conditions. Perhaps this is why Oryx is one of Sweden's most widely used cartridges.
